hol-1December is fast approaching. If you are looking for some fun and exciting events to get into the holiday spirit, San Jose community parks are the places to be. A variety of holiday inspired events and activities will be on hand at different parks across the city. Whatever you do to celebrate the season, everyone is sure to find a way to connect with community through peace and goodwill, and have some fun while doing so. Listed below are some of the exciting events coming up at our parks.

The first weekend of the month is full of different events. Bring the kids to San Jose’s History Park on Saturday, December 3rd for the annual Children’s Holiday Festival. This is a wonderful ‘hands-on’ history event where you can enjoy the carols of yester-year and the kids can enjoy fun activities with them in mind.

hol-2Also on the third is a celebration for the dogs. Head over to Caesar Chavez Park for the annual free Dog Day at Christmas in the Park, a popular San Jose tradition. Dogs can get pictures with Santa while you enjoy a winter wonderland with live music, incredible lights and animated holiday scenes. Christmas in the Park also includes a breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 10th and the Santa Run Silicon Valley on Sunday, December 18th, to name a few other events to enjoy during the month-long celebration of the holiday spirit. This downtown San Jose holiday extravaganza has something for everyone.

If you are ready to get some holiday gift shopping done, stop by Santana Row Park on Saturday, December 3rd, for the Holiday Makers Market. Here you will find hand crafted gift ideas, from jewelry, to ceramics, soaps, candles and more. Free wine tastings and treats will be on hand as you shop and support local artists on National Support Local Business Day for the holiday season.

hol-3History Park also has a holiday celebration more for the adults, especially history buffs who love champagne, tea and tradition. The Heritage Holiday Champagne Tea will be held on Saturday December 10th. Tour historic homes decorated for the holidays and enjoy being served by Shakespearian players. If beer is more to your taste, check out the 7th Annual Beerwalk Japantown. While not a park, outdoor strolls are encouraged during this holiday event. Support San Jose’s unique neighborhood, Japantown as they deck the halls (or rather streets) with holiday lights and decorations, Taste a variety of beers and visit local shops and restaurants throughout the day on December 10th.
