The real estate adage Location, Location, Location, still holds quite a bit of truth and impact behind it. There are key aspects of daily living which play a significant role towards enhancing the appeal of a location for home buyers, such as family resources and education, entertainment and recreation, as well as housing and commuting options and access to healthy living choices.
To help people in their search for an ideal community to live, Niche.com continually reviews data for cities, counties and states across the nation, releasing their annual report on the Best Places to Live. According to the latest Niche rankings, Santa Clara is the number one rated county to live in California.
Considering the heart of Santa Clara County includes the Silicon Valley, the number one ranking comes as no surprise. Here is where digital and high-tech industry reigns supreme. Add in communities full of cultural diversity, incredible lifestyle choices and the embracing of the urban village concept, you can have it all in this region.
Santa Clara County was given an A+ rating overall, despite a lower grade for housing, a C-. This rating comes from our high property values and the higher than average home sale prices and rents in the area. While finding affordable housing is a challenge, many home buyers are in a position to afford these higher prices with their higher than average incomes from working within a high-tech world. According to Niche’s data report, 57% of residents in Santa Clara County own their home.
Diversity within Santa Clara received an A+ score, we are a region of varying cultures and lifestyles which span the spectrum from A-Z, a true American melting pot. Alongside all our diversity, Santa Clara County nightlife also received an A; there is always something to do here when looking for entertainment.
Santa Clara County is also an incredible area for families, with public school and family resources each getting an A grade as well. In fact, the county is rated as the best one for families overall, and rated 3rd in the State for public schools. Whether you are raising a family or not, this is a positive benefit for home owners, as the better the education and access to childcare, health care and family-friendly amenities, the higher home values tend to be. Family positive aspects also add to the stability of communities.
The number one ranking of Santa Clara County wouldn’t hold much sway without having top rated cities and towns within its borders. San Jose received and overall A- grade, coming in as the 8th healthiest city, and the 88th Best Place to Live in the nation. Palo Alto’s overall grade is an A+, and is listed as the 7th Best Place in California; due in large part to their A+ ratings for public schools and families. Palo Alto is also listed as the 3rd Best Suburb in the State.
