Are you ready to get your summer started? Looking for a great way to have some fun with family and friends? Head to downtown Willow Glen on Saturday, June 18th for the 21st Annual Dancin’ on the Avenue. Willow Glen, affectionately called San Jose’s Treasure, is a charming neighborhood, with its small hometown appeal of small shops, restaurants and businesses, making this area an incredible urban village. Dancin’ on the Avenue is your chance to spend an afternoon surrounded by live music, entertainment, local vendors and area nonprofits sharing their wares and information. This is an ideal family day with fun and plenty to do for everyone of all ages.
The festival runs from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, along Lincoln Avenue in Willow Glen. There will of course be amazing food available from area favorites such as Aroma Catering, Barrett’s Hamburgers & Lemonade, Tamale Factory and Yuki Sushi, to name a few. Food and beverage tickets are available to purchase at the festival, including beer and wine tickets which run $4.00 each. Food tickets run just $2.00 each and water or soda tickets are $1.00 apiece. Have cash ready when you head over any of the 5 ticket booths, or you can purchase them via PayPal at a separate ticket booth.
With an average of 25,000 people in attendance, Dancin’ on the Avenue is a great chance to learn about some area nonprofit organizations too. The festival is really about bringing together community, and part of what makes this a wonderful community are the various resources and services made available to help others in need. Come to Dancing on the Avenue and find out what great works are being done and how you can help too. You can also help out the festival itself through one of the many volunteer positions that are open. Lending a helping hand is always a plus, and a wonderful way to make new community connections.
Dancing on the Avenue wouldn’t be the festival that it is without the music. There are three stages for you kick off your heels and dance to your hearts content with live performances from a variety of bands. Some of the groups include Adam and the Dancing Cowboy, with line dancing included; The Cocktail Monkeys, featuring cover and tribute songs; and The House Rockers an amazing 10-piece rock and soul band. The kids can have a blast at the Kid’s Court, with arts and crafts, and lots of kid-centered activities.
