In a recent Fremont City Council meeting, a new development for townhomes was approved. This is great news for the area, as it will bring new housing options to a little used street, Stevenson Place. The new development will be bordered by Stevenson Blvd to the north, fire station no. 9 to the south, an office complex to the east and railroad tracks to the west, which are just beyond the site of another development in progress, MidPen.
Robson Homes is the developer of the new townhomes, which will include 34 attached properties along with 12 detached ones. The square footage of each townhome will range from 1,550 to 2,040. Each unit will be three stories high and include a two car garage. There will also be a parking lot for 10 guest parking spaces and another 13 parking spaces added to Stevenson Place. With land always at a premium here in the Bat area, providing additional parking options will be vital to help provide ease of access to the new development. The decision to limit the number of additional parking spaces will also provide for more open space along the Stevenson Place townhomes, another vital amenity for residents.
In keeping in line with developers being called to help assist with infrastructure as new communities are built, Robson Homes is set to contribute $100,000 towards transit and transportation improvements now that the project has received the green light from the Fremont City Council. Possible improvements with the funds include revamping the pedestrian crossing on Walnut Avenue near the Fremont BART station. With focused attention on the future needs of this area of Fremont, developments such as the Stevenson Place townhomes are sure to provide greater options for those that live in the area.
