There has been a wonderful resurgence in electrical cars within our country, but did you know that California is one state that has really embraced the use of electrical vehicles? These cleaner running cars are a great option for transportation freedom, which Americans love to have. But they can only operate regularly and at long distances if there are enough charging stations to make driving one convenient and easy to deal with.
I recently came across a great website, Clean Fuel Connection, which shows exactly where you can charge your electric car. In Northern California, there are now over 100 charging locations to be found. Products and services are gauged by supply and demand; this amazing growth in the number of charging stations in our region shows just how much we have embraced the electric car.
San Jose alone has 50 charging stations, which are primarily in downtown garages. You can search for the stations at the San Jose City website. Those who drive electric vehicles know that they are not only making less of a carbon footprint, but helping their own wallet in the end with all the savings that can be achieved, compared to a regular fueled car.
Well, the city of San Jose is offering even more incentive to encourage electric vehicle owners to buy these cars and drive them in our community. Did you know that if you own an electronic car, you can park for free in a select number of downtown garages and city parks? Better still, the cost to charge an electronic car at a public charging station is $1.25 per session, plus $0.20- 0.25 per kWh depending on the time of day. These costs cover the city’s running and maintenance of the stations and processing, and are significantly lower than gasoline prices.
Of course most of the time you will charge your electric car at home, but that means installing a charging station at your house as well. Not to worry, San Jose has also added in a streamlined permit process for anyone who is ready to have their own charging station installed. This is another great way that this cleaner transportation option is being made easier for more people to own. The electric car initiative shows that we take our environment seriously, from individuals to the community at large. It is an investment well worth the initial cost.
