Have you heard of staging your home? Have you dismissed the idea thinking it might be too much work with little reward? I am here to tell you that staging your home can make a difference between selling your home quickly, or not!

Staging your home can be an involved process, but if you hire a professional home stager to help you, it will be worth it. The main focus of staging is to make your home look the best it can. You can call me at (408) 800- LIST if you are unsure which areas of your home should be highlighted and focused on. I can also assist you in finding a great, professional home stager to help you with your home. You can see some of our past staging and the transformation we can do to your house too.

If you would rather try to stage your home yourself, here are some helpful tips to get you started.

The most important tip is to look at your home from a buyer’s perspective. Take a step back and think about what attracted you to the home when you first bought it, then work to accent those areas that are the highlight of your home.

For example, if you have a lot of extra furniture in your home, remove everything except what is a necessity. This will open up your home and let the potential buyer envision where their items will fit. It may be a good idea to rent a storage unit until your home sells.

Not every seller can move out of their home before they put it on the market. De-clutter your home. This means taking down any extra photographs, personal items, and miscellaneous papers sitting around. In your kitchen remove everything that is not a necessity from your countertops.

If you have a lot of photographs on shelves, walls, and other surfaces, take some down. You want your buyers looking at your home, not your pictures.

The front of the home is the first thing a potential buyer sees. Curb appeal is very important! Make it clean and orderly. Remove anything extra from your doorstep and put something bright and inviting, such as a potted plant, out front.
